Conflagration of the Tongue

Let no corrupt word proceed out of your mouth, but what is good for necessary edification, that it may impart grace to the hearers.

And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.

Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, and evil speaking be put away from you, with all malice.– Ephesians 4:29-31

Conflagration of the Tongue

Death and life are in the power of the tongue
It is a fire, a world of iniquity
So set among the body’s members that it defiles the whole body
No man can tame the tongue
It is an unruly evil, full of deadly poison
Do not let unwholesome talk spew from the mouth
Nor obscenities or foolish words
Coarse joking is out of place
Put away perversity from the mouth for it stirs up dissension
Keep corrupt talk far from the lips
Flattery and smooth speech is a double-edged sword
A gossip betrays confidence and separates close friends
Reckless words pierce the heart
Harsh words stir up anger
The deceitful tongue crushes the spirit
For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks
Every idle word that comes forth will be judged
All will give account on the Day of Judgment for every careless word uttered
