With Thanksgiving….

Rejoice always,
pray without ceasing,
give thanks in all circumstances;
for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
~ 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18

With Thanksgiving….

Possess an attitude of gratitude
Be thankful always
Sing praises to the God of heaven
Thank him for the sacrifice he gave

See the blessings that surround
Thank God for all he has done
Knowing he has given you life
His blessings have only just begun

Thank him for your very breath
Each one comes from him alone
Thank him for eyes to see
Absorbing colorful beauty shown

Thank him for ears to hear
Listen for his still small voice
Open up your heart and mind
Hear the heavenly hosts rejoice

Thank him for your home
A place to lie your head at night
Praise him for running water
Thank him for food and lights

Thank him for your family
Broken though they may be
Thank him for hugs and love
For the blessings of security

Thank him for your freedom
It comes at a heavy price
Remember those who fought and died
Thank them for their sacrifice

Thank God for his only son
Who died upon the cross
Thank him for his grace and mercy
Through him you are no longer lost

Thank God for the simple things
The ones you take for granted
Thank him for things that bring you joy
For the seeds in the heart that have been planted

Thank him for the beautiful things
Like flowers, rainbows, grass, and trees
Mountains, sunsets, and drifting snowflakes
Birds that sing, and a soft ocean breeze

Thank him for family and friends
For happiness, smiles, hugs, and love
Enjoy the companionship given you
Give thanks to God above

Stop whining and complaining
Readjust your attitude
Know that God blesses you daily
Honor him with your gratitude

God bless and may you truly be thankful this Thanksgiving, despite the circumstances of life. Choose to be lost in the love of God rather than the despair of the world. Make your mind up to be joyful, even when the rains fall. See the silver lining, the glass half full! Love to you and yours ❤

We all have circumstances that bring us down, cast a shadow upon our hearts, and make life seem unbearable at times.   Maybe you are going through an illness that is debilitating or even fatal.  Perhaps you are in the process of divorce or have lost a love one. Perchance you have lost your job or your home is being foreclosed.  Whatever the circumstance, you can still be thankful!  Yes, I said you can still be thankful…hard though it may be during the difficult and devastating events of life.

God says that we are not to be anxious about anything but in all things, with prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to him (Philippians 4:6). Yes, God requires you to be thankful. Your circumstances may indeed be devastating, but if you dwell on all the negative, it is easy to get stuck there, becoming depressed and hopeless. God wants to bring you hope during the storms of life, give you comfort in your darkest times, renew your heart when it is broken, and save you when you are lost. For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). God will work good out of all things for those who love him and are called according to his purpose (Romans 8:28). God has great plans for your life, and the storms that come against you can be used by God to bring good into you life, build endurance and perseverance, shape your future, and make you stronger than you ever thought possible….if you let God in and let him lead!

You most certainly don’t have to thank God for the circumstances that you are battling with, but you do need to thank him in the circumstances. Praise him during the circumstances. Sing to him in spite of the circumstances. Honor him through the circumstances. Rather than focusing on what you don’t have, focus on what you do have. Rather than complaining and arguing with everyone around you, including God, shine like the evening stars, bringing hope not only to those around you, but into your own life as well.

So what do you have to be thankful for? Stop and think! What makes you blessed? What brings you joy? What do you do or have every day that you take for granted?

Check this out and then feel free to add what you are thankful for in the comments 🙂 It is always good to share so others can be inspired by the beauty you see and the things that bring you hope and joy.

God bless and keep you always!
