Journey in Relationships

I have found myself exceedingly blessed with a wonderful Godly man with which I am spending time getting to know and we are growing in our walk with God both independently and together. However, though we are both Christians and want to please the Lord and bring him honor and glory in our relationship, life has a way of challenging that mentality. The journey to purity is never easy, but always worth it! I was blessed to be reminded of this song and wanted to share it. No matter what trials, temptations, or tribulations we may face, if we fix our eyes on the Lord, all things will work out for our good!

May you be blessed and remember that “No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.” ~ 1 Corinthians 10:13. This does not mean that we can bear the temptation in our own strength and might, but rather through strength in Christ we can stand and walk in obedience to God (Phil. 4:13).

Blessing and love to you all ❤

The Storm

The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer;
my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge,
my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
~ Psalm 18:2 ~

The Storm

Grey clouds hover
Blocking the sunlight
Storms on the horizon
Flooding the soul

Winds blow wildly
Tossing me to and fro
Holding tight to God
I will never let go

Lightening crashes
Blinding the heart
Causing confusion
So easily I fall apart

The thunder resounds
Bringing heartbreak and pain
But this to will pass
For God will break the chain

Clouds will clear
Winds will fade
Within this storm
I will not be afraid

For God is near
He holds me in his hands
Peace will come
For in Him I stand

A microphone?!

I heard a wonderful quick minute excerpt on Air1 radio from Levi Lusko today.  The primary part that stood out to me was that we all have a microphone to use in this world, but it is not meant for us to speak about ourselves, rather we are to use it to amplify God in our lives.

That statement really resonated with me today and made me ask if I was amplifying God in all that I do. With some current struggles in my life, I began to feel like I was letting God down, not being all he has called me to be, and wondering if the choices I made were right or wrong. As I have been praying the last few days, reading the word, and perusing a variety of inspirational websites, I came to realize that there are times when I feel bad because I have hurt someone or because I had to deal with conflict and close some doors that were unhealthy. That doesn’t mean I am a bad person, it means in faith I stood my ground.

Having walked this world with some pretty devastating events in my life, I know that God is leading me in all that I do. He has brought me from the depths of the miry clay and placed my feet upon the solid rock. Now, with that said, I know I am not perfect and I too act out of fear and confusion at times, but God always has a way of putting me back on the solid rock that is his refuge!

Closing doors and dealing with confrontation, or speaking in bold love often take me out of my comfort zone. However, I know that God is using the microphone during those times to amplify his love to those around him. He is using me to deliver a message that may not have been heard otherwise. Do those messages hurt? Do they cause rifts in relationships? Does my integrity, character, and walk with God get attacked? Yes, yes, and yes! That is where my struggle lies….in doing what God calls me to do, I end up hurting too. But I am not saying this to throw myself a pity party. Instead I say that to remind me that when I amplify the voice of God through these confrontations, I should expect to be persecuted and ridiculed as Christ was. Thus the pain is diminished through the knowledge that I am being refined and used of God to do good things (though they may not feel that way at the time!).

I refuse to give into the lies that bold love is always agreeable, that peacekeeping means being untruthful, and love is silent in regards to the bondage of the past or that love keeps the doors open. Even Christ called people out for their wrongs, for idols in their lives, for areas of weakness they had to work on. Did that mean he loved them any less? Absolutely not!!! It meant that he loved them that much more, wanting to see them live the life God had planned for them, desiring that they know true peace of the heart and not be bound by the shackles of the past or the fears of the future. He spoke bold love in its raw, purest, truest form!!

That is what I desire, to be like Christ. Do I falter and fall? Do I let my own issues get in the way? Do I stumble over my fears? Yes, yes, and yes!! I am human, but I am a person who desires to see those I care about flourish and grow in ways they never thought possible. I am a person who wants to see everyone find an inner peace and freedom that brings them ever so much closer to God. I am a person with a heart filled with love for my Savior, Jesus Christ, and I long for God to be amplified through me in each and every way. I trust that as I surrender and give all I have for him, he will use me in ways I could have never dreamed or imagined!

What are you waiting for? Be the microphone God has called you to be and let the beauty and glory of the Lord emanate in sound waves across the globe!!

God bless and keep you and may your voice reflect the truth of God always. In God’s love!

One Word! Two Words! More!

When life is just too hard to explain!  Hold tight to the known.  Hope in the unknown.

Cast your burden upon the LORD and He will sustain you;
He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.
~ Psalm 55:22 ~

Past haunting
Losing ground
Falling down
Exposed heart
Doubting reality
Heart torn
Thoughts reeling
Feelings swarm
Trust broken
Evil unmasked
Holding on
Seeking more
Looking up

Emotions run wild
Fleeing to and fro
Swallowing the light
Exposing inner darkness
Face turned away
Hands reaching up
Heart lain bare
Wanting to do what’s right
Feeling so wrong
Never wanting to hurt
Desiring to share God
Failing so miserably
Knowing the Lord has all

Just here
Empty days
Sleepless nights
Freedom unknown
Consuming pain
Inner turmoil
Confusion reigns
Clarity fades
Insecurities abound
Desires betray
Flesh craves
Soul strains
God remains

The Present is a Gift Indeed!

Yes, this is a repost from last May, but oh so relevant today as well!  I find myself constantly battling to find meaningful time with God as I go to and fro with all the busyness of life, and therefore I share this again….a reminder to myself to make time, and a reminder to others to be thankful and to carve out time to build and renew your relationship with God!!

The Present is a Gift Indeed!!

Today is indeed a gift, hence the reason it is called the present. An old saying, but nonetheless true! I have been running from one end of creation to the other like a wild banshee with work, parenting, housekeeping, and building a relationship, not to mention Bible studies, worship and Church. I would trade none of it, but man there are those days that I get so busy that I forget what is truly important, what is most valuable in my life.

God is so often pushed to the side as there are so many other things that vie for my time. I squeeze Him in as though He can wait for those 5 minute moments here and there in the car, in the shower, or anyplace else I actually have a moment to be left alone. As I reflect on the last few weeks, I have come to realize that my priorities are out of whack. ALL that I HAVE, I HAVE because God gave it to me. NOTHING is my own, NOTHING have I created, NOTHING have I earned. It is all GOD. Take a look at Deuteronomy 8:10-18

10 When you have eaten and are satisfied, praise the LORD your God for the good land he has given you. 11 Be careful that you do not forget the LORD your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day. 12 Otherwise, when you eat and are satisfied, when you build fine houses and settle down, 13 and when your herds and flocks grow large and your silver and gold increase and all you have is multiplied, 14 then your heart will become proud and you will forget the LORD your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. 15 He led you through the vast and dreadful wilderness, that thirsty and waterless land, with its venomous snakes and scorpions. He brought you water out of hard rock. 16 He gave you manna to eat in the wilderness, something your ancestors had never known, to humble and test you so that in the end it might go well with you. 17 You may say to yourself, “My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me.” 18 But remember the LORD your God, for it is he who gives you the ability to produce wealth, and so confirms his covenant, which he swore to your ancestors, as it is today.

God has provided us with all we have…food, land, house, water and wealth. Nothing comes from us, but from God’s BLESSINGS. Each breath we breathe, each step we take, each thought we think, each word we say, each letter we type are all gifts from God. The car that starts each morning, the job that supplies all the necessities of life, the family that comes along side of us, the church that builds us up all are gifts from God. The home you sleep in, the computer you communicate with, the water you drink and bathe with all are gifts from God. NOTHING is my own, but all beautiful gifts from God to remind me of his covenant to those who love Him and are called according to His purpose. They are there to remind me of eternity, to set my mind on things above, not to be taken for granted.

Glancing upon all that God has truly blessed me with has gently reminded me that He loves me so and desires to spend time with me and to be a part of my life, from the mundane to the hectic parts of it. How could I push Him aside when He has so richly blessed me indeed? How could I shove Him into convenient little moments that don’t allow time to really listen to Him? I feel my finger pointing at me accusingly, with “shame on you” emanating forth. When we love someone, we want to spend every waking moment with them, talking to them, listening to them, laughing with them, and basking in the joy of that relationship. God is no different! He loves us and wants to spend every waking moment with us. Should we not desire the same? Yes, we need to live life and take care of the responsibilities God has given us on this earth. However, we need to prioritize and make sure we are making time, scheduling and planning longer than 5 or 10 minutes to sit with Him each day.

Enjoy the gifts of the present and take time to thank and honor God for all He has blessed you with and to hear His still, small voice! All my love to you!

All of life comes to one ultimate question….darkness or light, evil or good, sinner or saint?  Every decision leans one way or the other.  Every action takes a side, whether you consciously choose it or not.  Every word uttered is a reflection of the heart and reveals which side of the fence the speaker is on.  Even inaction is an action, is a choice, is a decision made that answers the internal question of evil or good.

You battle everyday with choices set before you.  The battles may occur at work, at home, during down time, in the busiest time of the day, with family, friends, or coworkers.  Choices are made in everything at every moment of every day of your life.  The choice you make reflects who you are as a person, your character, your beliefs, and your values.

So, I ask you:  What do your choices reveal about you?  Do they show your faithfulness to God or to yourself and this world?  Do they reflect love and humility towards others, or show pride, arrogance, and a lack of affection?  Is what you say encouraging and renewing, or do your words tear others down?  Or worse yet, do you stand silent, not taking a stand at all?  Remember the choice to do, say, or believe nothing is a choice!

As you approach the new year, take some time to examine your heart, soul, and mind, placing them open before God.  Let him in.  Let him convict you of areas you need to improve.  Let him show you areas where you are strong.  Let God examine you and bring you to a place of light and goodness.  Let him take the sinner that you are and make you a saint in His eyes.

You are God’s child and he can show you the way of righteousness.  He can lead you down the path that is designed for you.  Trust in him, knowing that he will always guide, guard, and keep you in his love.

All my love and may the God of unending peace and wisdom bring you clarity and conviction, leading to eternal life. ❤

Search me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts:
see if there be any wicked way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.  ~ Psalm 139:23-24

Put on the full armor of God,
so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil.
For our struggle is not against flesh and blood,
but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness,
against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.  Ephesians 6:12

The devil comes knocking on the door of your heart
Evil coursing through his veins
Polluting your thoughts
Pouring darkness into your heart
Devouring your soul
Torturing your flesh

Relinquish control
Give it all to God
There is nothing too ugly
No sin too bad
Darkness cannot hide
God is stronger than all the devil’s tricks and deception
The Lord brings truth to the mind
Showers the heart with His light
Restores the soul
Strengthens the flesh

If I have not love…I am nothing!

If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing.

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. ~ 1 Corinthians 13:1-8a & 13

The important things…

There are so many things in this world vying for your attention; so many important things that fight for your time. Now is as good a time as any to ask yourself….what is really important in my life? What is it that really needs my time and my attention? What is consuming a major part of my day?

Yes, work is more than likely a big chunk of that time (or at least 6-10 hours of it each day), be it a CEO of a company, a teacher in a classroom, a sales clerk at a department store, a server at a restaurant, a stay at home mom (and yes, stay at home mom is a job title for those of you who were wondering!), or a myriad of other job titles. Work is indeed essential for paying bills, buying food, keeping gas in your car, etc., so for the sake of time (no pun intended!), work is not considered in this list as we all know it is important.

Moving right along: so what else is important in your life? Do you spend time communicating with friends and family via Facebook, Tumblr, Twitter, and Instagram, or do you actually take some time to meet with those same family and friends for coffee or lunch, talking face to face, sharing hugs and laughter? I know time is ever fleeting, believe me I get it! After all, I am a single mom of a teenage boy and a teacher for children with special needs. I understand the shortage of time. However, I have come to understand the value or importance of time spent in close proximity with those I love and care about. While a text, instant message, tweet, or whatever social media or technology you use to communicate with friends and family is great, it should never replace time spent in the same room with them, sharing stories, laughter, happiness, sadness, failures, and success. No tweet or IM has ever given me more comfort than a shoulder to cry on or a hug from a friend.

Are you a TV person? Do you spend countless hours watching football, Netflix, Hulu, or just plain old cable television? Those are hours you could spend playing games with friends, reading books with your children (which is crucial to their literacy and communication development), visit with a neighbor who is elderly or alone, or do some kind of family fun time. Now, don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with watching some TV, but when it interferes with more valuable things in your life, like family and friends, then something may be askew in your time management! Maybe incorporate movie night or football games with some family and friends, sharing food, fun, and maybe even a book or game afterward.

Perhaps you are a hobby person, spending hours of time in your garage, shed, or hobby room making great things that in the end only collect dust or become something cool/pretty to look at, but not very practical for everyday use. Are you all alone in that room for hours? I believe in down time! It is necessary to have time for myself, as it is important in keeping me sane and bringing a sense of calm and peace to my life….just as it may do for you. However, if you are spending hours upon hours (meaning more than 2 hours a day in your garage or hobby room alone, all by yourself, solo), maybe, just maybe you may want to try something new. Share your hobby with your children. Encourage a friend to swing by and help you out. Branch out and make one of your projects a family project, making hobby time an opportunity to come together (after you have some alone time, of course!).

Maybe your addicted to blogging or are a gamer, and technology consumes a great deal of your time. How much is enough? How healthy could it be to sit in front of a computer or TV screen for hours on end with no real human interaction…and no, voices on the other end of multiplayer game don’t count as human interaction! Again, it may be time for you to readjust your schedule, allowing a chance for some face to face interaction to occur that does not involve typing or using a game controller. For the record, let me say, in and of itself, blogging and gaming are not bad things, and they can be very healthy outlets for stress and overloaded emotions, however, nothing replaces face to face human interaction.

Are you getting what I am trying to say? The important things in your life are not things at all, they are the relationships you have with your friends and family. Yes, your friends may be weird and your family may drive you nuts sometimes, but when all is said and done, they are all you have in this crazy world. They are the ones who help you when your feeling down, come along side of you during an emotional crisis, jump up and down with you when you are excited about life, celebrate special events with you, grieve when you have lost someone dear, hug you because they just know you need it, and they even listen to you rant and rave about the insanity of life. Yes, friends and family are important in your life! Take time to show them how much you care and love them by putting aside other time stealers, and investing your time in your relationships with them.

There is no better time like the present, and no better excuse than the Christmas season, to rekindle friendships, rebuild relationships, and renew fellowships with your friends and family!

May God bless you and help you to prioritize what is truly important in your life! Merry Christmas with love ❤

I Will Believe

There are times in life we just have to wait! If you have had the luxury of not waiting for anything, you are certainly in the minority!! We have to wait for home loans to go through and paychecks to come. We have to wait in line at the grocery store and the bank. We have to wait for the birth of our children and for them learn that we really do know what we are talking about.  Hurry up and wait; the old adage goes.

If you are waiting for the perfect someone, praying that he or she will come soon, rest assured God will bring that person at just the right time. He will make the connection when you are strong in him, independent and not reliant on anyone. He will send your future spouse when he or she is ready for a deep and meaningful relationship. Don’t push, don’t run from person to person! Just wait. Wait on the Lord and His timing, knowing that all things will work for the good of those who love the Lord and are called according to his purpose.

Believe me, as a single mom, I have done my share of waiting!  I wrote this poem during one of those lonely times in 2004, and have learned much from waiting, which I am still doing by the way.  Hang in there, and hold onto the Lord during the tough times and the long waits, because the sun will come out and the person God designed for you will be there at just the right time.  God bless and keep you. ❤

Wait on the Lord, my soul doth wait, and in His word I hope. ~ Psalm 130:5

And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive. ~ Matthew 21:22

So I say to you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. ~ Luke 11:9-10

I Will Believe

My Lord, I am so tired
Chasing dreams that never seem to come
Running in circles
Tying to figure out what to do
The answers elude me
So I turn to You God
I struggle to hear You
To know Your path for me
I can read it in Your word
Hear it through my friends
But I long to see You
Meet You face to face
So many questions
Chaos spinning in my mind
I cannot feel You Lord
Though I can see You in the beauty that surrounds
If only You could reach down from the gates of Heaven
Your touch would make my day
It is a part of who I am
The way You made me Lord
To touch, feel, hug, caress
I thrive on human contact
Though some people can be distant
Live without constant touch
I shrivel and die both inside and out
Oh, to feel that love again
To be embraced and held
To rest in the intimate arms of another
Lord, I long for that day
The day You fulfill Your promise
The day when You meet my heart’s desire
Is it too much to ask
At times I fear it is
But You beckon me to ask
And You promise I shall receive
By Your grace and mercy I shall wait
With all hope vested in You

Proverbs for the Wicked

We all have a past, a story to tell, a moment we wish we would never remember again.  Some of those are moments where we have done wrong, either to ourselves or to someone else.  Other times those moments are when someone hurt. betrayed, belittled, abused, took advantage of, or lied to us.  It is in those time that our true walk with God, or lack there of, becomes apparent.  It is in the toughest, most angering moments that the rubber meets the road for our obedience to God.

No matter what has been done to you, the harboring of anger and bitterness, resentment and frustration must be released. You could be rude, be spiteful, or even seek revenge, but in the end….you become no better than those who have done or acted wrongly toward you. You become like them.

However, if you release that to God, turn the other proverbial cheek, and allow God to work His judgment and vengeance, then you are free from the bonds that separate you from God. If you hold tight to anger, bitterness, unforgiveness, ugliness, or vengeful thoughts, you are allowing sin to hold onto you, keeping you from growing with God, keeping you stagnant in your walk, causing you to fall further away from your faith.

In Ephesians 4:26, it states: “Be angry and do not sin”, Do not let the sun go down on your wrath or give place to the devil. If you hold onto anger, bitterness, resentment, unforgiveness…you allow Satan a path to your thoughts, your actions, and your words.

So choose today to let God redeem any wrongs done to you. Allow Him to provide the right and proper judgment to those who have sinned against you, and discover that you will have true peace and contentment! When you have moments where you just don’t want to let go, think on the scriptures below and release your heart and emotions to God.

Hebrews 10:30 For we know him who said, “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” and again, “The Lord will judge his people.”

Romans 12:19 Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written, “It is mine to avenge, I will repay,” says the Lord.

Proverbs 25:21-22 If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink. In doing this, you will reap burning coals on his head, and the Lord will reward you.

Romans 12:17-21 Do not repay anyone evil for evil. Be careful to do what is right in the eyes of everyone. If it is possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone. Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord. On the contrary: “If your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him something to drink. In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head.” Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

Let God judge. Let God seek vengeance. Let God deliver your heart and mind from anger, bitterness, resentment, hatred, and vengeance. Seek Him in all things and enjoy peace beyond understanding (Philippians 4:6-7).

God bless and keep you always! ❤

The eyes of the Lord are in every place keeping watch on the evil and the good. ~ Proverbs 15:3

Proverbs for the Wicked

The wicked lurk secretly for the innocent without cause
They lie in wait for their own blood
They do not sleep unless they have done evil
Their sleep is taken away unless they make someone fall
They eat the bread of wickedness
And drink the wine of violence
The way of the wicked is like darkness
They do not know what makes them stumble
His own iniquities entrap the wicked man
He is caught in the cords of sin
A worthless person, a wicked man walks with a perverse mouth
Perversity is in his heart
He devises evil continually
He shall be broken without remedy
To do evil is like sport
The wicked man does deceptive work
He pursues evil to his own death
Those who are of a perverse heart are an abomination to the Lord
Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evil
The way of the wicked leads them astray
Evil pursues sinners
The mouth of the wicked pours forth evil
Getting treasures by a lying tongue is the fleeting fantasy of those who seek death
The soul of the wicked desires evil
When he speaks kindly do not believe him for there are abominations in his heart
Hell and destruction are never full so the eyes of man are never satisfied
The perverse person is an abomination to the Lord
The curse of the Lord is on the house of the wicked
Whoever causes the upright to go astray in an evil way
He himself will fall into his own pit, but the blameless will inherit good
The wicked will fall by his own wickedness
The unfaithful will be caught by their lust
The righteous will see their fall
Do not fret because of evildoers for there will be no prospect for the evil man
The lamp of the wicked will be put out
The evil will bow before the good and the wicked at the gates of the righteous
The wicked is banished in his wickedness
The righteous God wisely considers the house of the wicked
Overthrowing the wicked for their wickedness
