Who can be Against Us?

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him,
who have been called according to his purpose.
For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son,
that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
And those he predestined, he also called;
those he called, he also justified;
those he justified, he also glorified.
What, then, shall we say in response to these things?
If God is for us, who can be against us?
~ Romans 8:28-31

When the world tries to knock you down, when people try to bring pain and misery into your life, remember that God has you!  He holds the key to your heart, he holds the future in his hands….they don’t!!  Know that when God is with you, no one can come against you!  All my love ❤

Life Gone Awry

Now may our Lord Jesus Christ Himself, and our God and father,
who has loved us and given us everlasting consolation and good hope by grace, comfort your hearts
and establish you in every good word and work.  ~ 2 Thessalonians 2:16-17

Life Gone Awry

It is amazing the little things that affect you
The way something so subtle can determine your path in life
As a child it is the small things that matter most
The simple things that guide your thoughts

These things impact you in ways often unseen
You live life blindly and wonder why you do the things you do
Sometimes these things cause you to turn against yourself
Destroying you from within, devouring your very soul

Trust is such a small word yet so strong
You were created to trust others for your survival
As you grow that trust is often discarded by those you love most
Leading you into disastrous habits and relationships as an adult

Breaking trust and God-given boundaries leads to turmoil
When you cannot trust, you hide within the hallways of your mind
Avoiding others or only giving them what they want to see
Slowly losing who you are and any identity you were clinging to

When the very thought of yourself is nonexistent you lose touch
Losing your ability to feel your emotions and experience love
Most of all you lose an intimacy with someone who is beyond compare
He gets lost in the crevices of your pain and self contempt

When finally you sink into the miry pit of despair you can only reach up
Seeking answers to the sadness, hurt, and longing that resides in your heart
What you find is that compassionate someone who was with you all along
He felt your pain, was angry when you were hurt, and has a hopeful future for you

God was, is and always will be with you
No matter how dark your life seems, He stands next to you, holding you in His strength
He loves you, cheers for you, and longs for you to know His gentle peace
He wants to guide you through your pain and help you feel love again

When you have hit rock bottom with nowhere else to go
All you need do is call His name and He will bring you hope
He will cover you with His grace and shelter you in the shadow of His wing
Most of all God will lift your soul, bringing you closer to Him, helping you trust again

I will lead the blind by ways they have not known,
along unfamiliar paths I will guide them;
I will turn darkness into light before them and make the rough places smooth.
These are the things I will do;
I will not forsake them. ~ Isaiah 42:16

hope light

Shifting sand

Nowhere to stand

Rising again

Mind filled with sin

Reaching for God’s hand

Waiting to land

God’s love so grand

Shackles of sin disband

Flowing from God’s hand

Lift Me Up

‘I saw the Lord always before me.  Because he is at my right hand,
I will not be shaken.

Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices;
my body also will live in hope,
because you will not abandon me to the grave,

nor will you let your Holy One see decay.
You have made known to me the paths of life;

you will fill me with joy  in your presence.’  ~Acts 2:25-28

Lift Me Up

Lord, bring about your will, Your desire for my life
Giving me just what I need to grow in strength and love
Revealing to me revelations that change my direction
You reach down with grace from the heavens above

Your words of love and mercy fill me with Your Spirit
Setting my feet on solid ground and placing my heart in Your loving hands
You give me discernment and wisdom when I come humbly and ask
You give me strength to obey Your laws and assertion to take a stand

Continue to walk with me, helping me grow in Your word
Speak to me each day and help me lean on the safety of friends
Give to me discernment and trust, refill my cup of faith
Help me to always rely on You and praise You through to the very end

I Pray!

When you are facing mountains of trials. When the world moves faster than you can keep up with. When life feels like an uphill battle. Pray…for with God all things are possible!

God bless and keep you always! In His love ❤

Do not be anxious about anything,
But in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving,
Present your requests to God. ~ Philippians 4:6

I Pray

Lord as I walk this twisted road of life
I pray you will hold my heart
Keep me centered on You
So I can avoid the pit that lies below

At times when I am too weak to carry on
I pray for Your strength
Fill my cup till it overflows
I can soar like an eagle for You help me grow

When my feet slip as they often do
I pray You will lift me up
Steady and secure my way
Keep my spirit full of Your unending love

And Lord when I have sinned and fallen short
I pray Your mercy will cover me
For with Your grace I am saved
When I walk by faith I know I will rise above

Judgment Day

There are times in this world when I do what I don’t want to do, and I don’t do what I should do! What appears to be so easy is indeed quite difficult when it comes to my flesh, and the drive to have what I want when I want it, or avoid the things I don’t want. Paul discusses this same concept in Romans 7:15-20:

I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

Sins of the flesh often surface even when we want to do what is right. The old adage, “If your best friend jumped off a cliff, would you do it as well?”, applies here. Just because the world beckons you to do something it deems as “fun” or “feels good”—be it partying and getting hammered, having sexual relations outside of marriage because you feel like it, lying to avoid consequences—whatever the something is, does not always mean it’s the right thing to do. On the flip side, we often want to do the right thing, but the flesh keeps coming back stronger than ever, tempting us to choose the “dark side” of life.

One very important point comes to mind for me when I think upon Romans 7:15-20…”How do my actions change people’s perceptions of me as a Christian?”

Whenever you are about to do something, whether having a lot to drink, having sex outside of marriage, using drugs, cursing like a sailor, gossiping, or anything else inappropriate, STOP for a minute. Evaluate the impact your choice will have on how others view who you are. Will they see Christ in you? Will they know that you are “walking the walk” of the Christian faith? Or will they see the same thing they see in everyone else…nothing different that will draw them to Christ? Will they see the world in your life or will they see Christ? The choice is yours. Choose wisely.

Blessings and may you always think twice before doing those things you don’t want to do, and work hard to do the things Christ calls you to do!

But you must be careful
so that your freedom does not cause others with a weaker conscience to stumble.
1 Corinthians 8:9

Judgment Day

Freedom comes in many forms
Allowing choices to be made

You can walk by faith
Choosing to follow Christ

You can traverse the worldly path
Choosing to side with the enemy

Be cautious which side you choose
For all will come to pass
When death knocks upon your door
Answers will be sought

All the gifts given you
Their application will be reviewed

All the words you speak
They will be accounted for

All the deeds you do
A judgment will take place

Standing transparent before the Lord
What will you say

I chose to follow my own path
Or I chose to follow you?

Most assuredly, I say to you that you will weep and lament, but the world will rejoice;
and you will be sorrowful, but your sorrow will be turned into joy.
A woman, when she is in labor, has sorrow because her hour has come;
but as soon as she has given birth to the child, she no longer remembers the anguish,
for joy that a human being has been born in to the world. John 16:20-21

Sorrow flies
Coming and going as it pleases
Building its nest on the branches of hope

Old Meets New 4 – Revive Me Again

Always my prayer is that God will lead me away from the things of this world, and draw me closer to the beauty of His Word and His Ways.  When I am broken, filled with sorrow, and in the pit of despair, it is then that God revives me, filling me with His presence and becoming my Light and my  beacon.

May you also turn to God when you feel there is no other way, when you feel that the world has won, when you are stuck in the darkness of despair, and struggling to find your way.

God bless and keep you, and may you taste the beauty of the Lord ❤

butterfly 6Turn my eyes away from worthless things; preserve my life according to Your word. –Psalm 119:37

Revive Me Again

I am laid low in the dust
My soul is weary with sorrow
Strengthen me according to Your word
Direct me in the path of Your commands
Turn my heart toward Your statutes
Not toward my selfish gain
May Your unfailing love be my comfort
Let Your hand become my help

My eyes fail, looking for Your promise
I have suffered much
Do not let my hopes be dashed
Uphold me and I will be delivered
Plead my cause and redeem me

My flesh trembles in fear of You
Rivers of water run down from my eyes
Trouble and distress have overtaken me
I cry out with my whole heart
Hear my voice according to Your loving-kindness
Consider my affliction and deliver me
Renew me according to Your word
Revive me according to Your generosity

Let my cry come before You, O LORD
Give me understanding according to Your word
Let my supplication come before You
Direct my steps by Your word
And let no iniquity have dominion over me

Old Meets New 3 – Fight for Me

weakness strength

For those times when you just can’t stand any longer.  The times when life has broken you down, and the flesh seeks to overpower.  For the moments we fail, struggle to do what is right, and are unable to fight the good fight.  Know that the Lord will fight for you.  He will stand before you, guarding you, holding you, protecting you, giving you his strength, carrying you through your weakness, making you stronger than you ever were before.

Do not give up….but hold on!

God bless and keep you always!

The Lord will fight for you; you need only to be still. –Exodus 14:14

Fight for Me

Lord, I need you
Desires run strong
Sin consumes the thoughts
A battle yet to be won
War torn
Heart against mind
Spirit against flesh
Will against desire
I cannot stand alone
Surely I will fall
Succumb to the wickedness inside
Internal evil fights for control
I am not my own
Nor do I belong to the darkness
I am yours
Victorious through Your Son’s death
Pure in spite of myself
I am weak
I am torn Lord
Fight for me, please

For God is with Me

God is so faithful and His very word inspires the very core of who I am and all that He wants me to be.  His truth indeed will set us free if only we listen to it…if only we take time to hear Him speak through our circumstances and into our lives…if only we spend time with him, listening to his still small voice above the noise of this world.  This poem is the byproduct of God’s word, a lamp unto my feet, and a sword wielded against the harsh darkness that surrounds.  Not my words but YOURS LORD!  God bless and may you have time to hear God through His word.  All my love.

The Lord is my Shepherd I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside the still waters; he restores my soul. He leads me in path of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil, my cup runs over. Surely, goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever. –Psalm 23

For God is with Me
April 10, 2012

Principalities unseen fight against me
Evil seeks to devour
Justice will prevail
For God is with me

He is my strength and my shield
His sword cuts through the lies and deceit
He guards me with his right hand
Giving me refuge in the shadow of his wing
He is my delight and I am His
Though my enemies rise up against me
I shall not fear
For God is with me

He leads the beside the still waters
He restores my soul
He renews my strength
That I may soar on wings of eagles
That I may run and not grow weary
That I may walk and not grow faint
The snare of the fowler shall fail
For God is with me

His rod and His staff bring me great comfort
He is my strong tower
He is my rock and my fortress
No enemy can stand against me
No wicked scheme will endure
The plans of Satan will be destroyed
And good will shine in my life
For God is with me

I will stand in my weakness
For He is strong
I will rise above my fear
For there is no fear for those who love the Lord
I will be triumphant
Confidently resting in the Lord
For God is with me
